About Amy Collins

My name is Amy Collins and I will be teaching Pre-AP English I, English I, and EOC English this year at Kountze High School. My room is 217, located where the old high school band hall used to be. Just look for the blue numbers above my door =)

I’m a native of Silsbee, graduating from Silsbee High School in 2001. After graduation, I went on to Stephen F. Austin State University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in English (2005) and a Master’s in English with Creative Writing Emphasis (2007).

I currently have a decade of experience teaching English. I taught English Composition and English Analysis during the 2006-2007 school year at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. I have also taught a English Composition courses at the Lamar Institute of Technology (Silsbee location).

From August 2007 to the end of May 2009, I was a reporter for The Hardin County News and The Beaumont Enterprise. My primary beats were Silsbee, Kountze, and Sour Lake. While I enjoyed some parts of the job, I learned I really enjoyed teaching and decided to return to the education field. I enjoy my time in Kountze getting to know my students, their parents/guardians, and the community.

Please know that my door is always open, so feel free to communicate with me about any questions or concerns. I believe communication is highly important to a student’s success.
